GENERAL MODAL IMAGE not working

Hi,

can you help me to fix the GENERAL MODAL IMAGE as I have to add the class manually as it’s net being added automatically when the GENERAL MODAL IMAGE is enabled.

I use a RSS aggregation on my website where it downloads images to my server but none of the newly downloaded images get the image CSS Class (td-modal-image) for some reason.

I am sorry for such a dely. I was on long vacation and it took me couple of weeks to get back on truck.

I kinda thought that this is the reason why it’s not working, however, I would like to ask for your opinion if there is anything what could be done from your side in order to automatically add the class to any imported image what comes with the feed.

well, every single image is being downloaded to my server while importing posts to my site and it’s definitely present in the media library. If I manually switch on the Modal Image and just change from “link to – none” to “link to – Image URL” it works just fine. I think it’s not working even if I upload an image to the media library and attach it to a post manually anyway.

I was thinking if I should create a separated topic or just to ask you here. It’s something what’s actually related to the post feeding on my website so I’ll ask you here anyway as we already started this discussion.
Please let me know if it’s better to compose new separate topic in such case.

It’s about the post source name and the post source URL. I currently use these available fields in post settings to display the article’s source name including the URL but I have to do it manually each time I am editing the post which can be kind of time consuming. I am trying to get those fields filled in automatically with correct data because what I am trying to achieve here is to auto publish imported posts as soon as they are being downloaded to my site.

At the moment, all the posts that are being imported to my site must have the pending review or draft status in order to edit them before I can actually publish them with the correct source name and URL, however, that way I am loosing the date and time from the feed which is being imported and also my precious time which could be used elsewhere.

I know this is not the Newspaper’s Theme issue but I would appreciate any kind of hint or suggestion from you.

I understand what you mean regrading my second query.

However, I still don’t understand how I can achieve the lightbox to work on my site if I have it enabled in global settings and when I upload an image to my post manually I still have to edit the image and turn the Modal Image On and select the media link manually 🙁

I am not sure if I understand what it’s said here

Global settings

The modal can be enabled globally from Theme Panel -> Post Settings. The modal will apply to all post images, so you won’t have to go on each post to set them individually. If this feature is disabled, the individual imaged settings are applied.

so if I understand this correctly the Global modal settings is there for nothing, because if I make the post from scratch and I actually upload images manually like I did in this example/test

the modal image is still off and I have to do it all manually anyway.

Check this screenshot I made after adding the image to the test post above and publishing it.

Then I checked if the global modal image settings was applied by going to see the post from the front end and then I went back in order to see the settings of that image from within the post. See the attachment.

Maybe I am missing something or don’t just understand what it’s said down here below.

GENERAL MODAL IMAGE
Enable or disable general modal image viewer over all post images, so you won’t have to go on each post to set them individually.
Consider that disabling this feature, the individual settings of an image post are applied.

I understand what you have explained to me earlier above about imported posts with images which are BTW stored on my server. I kinda assume that when the Global settings is applied, it should at least work with manually created posts with images or am I really missing something?

How do I actually make the images to be linked to the media file automatically? Is it some sort of WordPress bug or I have miss-configured my media library somehow?

I am working on a modification from other Plugin to actually allow authors to publish their articles from the front-end with images. At this moment, they are only able to upload a Featured Image. I am just wondering if this is considered as a similar situation with importing posts with images from external sources and basically the lightbox won’t work as well.

I like Newspaper’s lightbox and I’d like to get it working at least with manually created posts either from front-end or back-end.

Any kind of suggestion or hint will be appreciated. I have tried other amazing lightbox plugin I purchased long time ago, however, I decided to use Newspaper’s light box as it has the lightbox built-in, light weight and good looking too. I would prefer to get it working somehow. It’s not that priority as it’s not possible to get it working with imported posts but I’d like to see it at least working with manually created posts, if you know what I mean.

unfortunately it’s still not working.

I have made some changes thanks to your hint above. However, that option didn’t work well so I used
one of the methods found here https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/35101

So I pasted this php code below to my child-theme function.php file and it seems to make my newly images point to the media link as you can see on the screenshot here https://1drv.ms/i/s!AkIZ0iKtBNnXmdlLTUt0Wu5r-E3hdg

I don’t get it. I tested it after I have added that snippet to my function.php and I saw that the newly added images are already pointing to the file URL but when I clicked at the image from the front-end, it just opened it in new tab but this time I tested it again and it just works as intended.

Thanks for showing me the right path to take in order to fix the issue which was in the image default link type.

Hey. After last update, the error of leading the images appeared, even if the image is loaded from wordpress and directed to the image file as required. Any update on this?
