Hey guys,
Thanks for a great theme and support so far. Simply amazing.
I have an issue with my social counters, in that when mobile user clicks on the Facebook tab it opens a webpage and not the app. (website here: caughtreport.com.au)
Is there a simple way I can make it so clicking on the link opens the Facebook app and only the website if the user does not have the app?
Thanks again,
Shaun
Hi,
I have tested this and look like the user it’s directed to the page only if he doesn’t have the fb app installed if the fb app it’s installed the fb page loads in the mobile app (tested on our demo with the social counter feature). On your site I didn’t found the social counter only the social icons.
Thanks
Hi Lucian,
I’m still having issues with getting the Facebook app to open from my websit – caughtreport.com.au
I have a “Follow The Caught Report” option under each post – (example: http://caughtreport.com.au/ants-about-to-turn-your-home-into-caliphate/ and see photo below)

When I click on the Facebook option it opens in the browser, not the Facebook application.
The Twitter and Google+ options open in their respective apps, but I can’t work out why the Facebook one doesn’t. This happens on all plug-ins or areas of the website I try.
I’ve tried looking for a solution, and have tried solutions such as using different links (fb://profile etc) but these don’t work and other solutions require coding for both Android and iOS, which I am a beginner at, and therefore attempting this may cause further problems. My main issues with this is where exactly to place the code.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I think not having the Facebook application open is losing me subscribers as many people are not logged into FB on their browsers.
Cheers,
Shaun
Hi,
Not sure but I believe you use this plugin for your social buttons: http://synved.com/wordpress-social-media-feather/ which is where you would need to ask this questions and help you with this.
I also noticed that contrary of what you have stated on my side all three buttons open a new tab in the browser so this issue isn’t just for facebook. You should check within plugin’s settings you might have an option for this.
If you want to see how our social sharing buttons are made you can edit the td_module_blog.php file and search for this part: http://screencast.com/t/fwHSVJua0wv
Hope this helps!
Thanks for the message!
