Google Accelerated Mobile Pages

Hello all,

Are there any plans to make this theme highly compatible with the coming Google Mobile Accelerated Pages project? It seems that many people are going to be applying this new subset of HTML with plugins but curious to know if you have any thoughts as to how this could be applied to Newspaper.

It already works with AMP right now. We’re setup for it and have been since November.

Simply get the AMP beta plugin for WordPress developed by Automattic (the folks who make WordPress), install, activate and you’re good to go. This is same plugin they are using for their “VIP” clients (e.g., TIME, etc.).

Be aware it’s still all a beta process. Google will supposeduly only start rolling out some limited support starting in Feb. as they begin to phase out support for mod_SPDY and also start migrating to more support for http/2. A lot of changes this year, including all the algorithm changes they are doing “right now” this month in SERPS related to brand names and mis-use of those on junk blogs to trick search engines.

Great to know Chris! Thanks

Better to leave it as plugin vs built-in support for now, due to likely changes after it starts to roll out.
