Google Analytics reporting drop in traffic after updating to 6

Maybe this is a silly question but I need some help…

I recently updated my Newspaper Theme from 4 to 6 and have since noticed a considerable drop in traffic reported in Google Analytics since making the upgrade. See pic below… Traffic drops dramatically the very day that I upgraded (28th Oct)!

Could updating the theme actually cause a drop in traffic?

Or is it more likely that it has upset the tracking code somehow and GA is now reporting incorrectly?
I am concerned that maybe I only have the tracking code setup on my homepage now and not on any other pages of my site but I’m not sure how to check or modify this… Surely I don’t have to add it to each page individually?

in your GA account, go to Behaviour > Site Content > All pages so you can see what pages are picked up by GA. If it only shows your homepage then you know that’s the problem

Thanks meremetia, I have checked in my GA account and it’s showing multiple pages of my site so that seems to be working correctly…

Any idea what could be causing the drop in traffic? Could it be affected by updating the theme?

we also see 50% of drop on GA figures

behaviour->site contents shows that we do have 11817 pages indexed..

I too have been having major issues with Google, it’s hard to believe that Google would penalize us over a template, especially one that has sold thousands of copies…

I have a question for the GA masters… and this thread may have pointed out a serious problem in our website which I can’t thank you enough…

Our Website p a r a d i s e f o u n d t o u r s. c o m uses Post Affiliate pro to track and pay our affiliates. We set up the software in a directory off our root domain. Within the software we set up campaigns, banner links etc. Our affiliate simply links to us from their website appending their affiliate ID and banner ID to our domain url.

For example: ?a_aid=247e4f14&a_bid=168LP

Thanks to this thread I dove into our GA dashboard/behavior/All Pages/

and noticed tons of links in there with thousands of unique views that look like this:
/grand-canyon-south-rim/bus/?a_aid=247e4f14&a_bid=82LP
/grand-canyon-west-rim/skywalk-tour/?a_aid=247e4f14&a_bid=168LP

I am so confused by all this. Our affiliate has these links on their site, yet it shows up as a page in our GA, Could this be the source of our Google problems? Punishing us for duplicate content? Link Juice problems etc?

There are these affiliate links in our affiliate software interface on our domain. I would love to know your thoughts? I would love to dig us out of our hole and fix this. One web guru we worked with had a redirect going from these aff urls to our root domain, but I turned that off a few days ago thinking it wouldn’t solve the entire problem, there are too many pages with these aff ids in our GA.

Is this solved by the robots.txt file and/or htaccess? If so what would be that solution/code?
