Gradient or texture between the blocks

Hello. I have recently purchased the theme and have been trying to customize it. I have been used my previous theme more than eight years which is why I would like to implement some of the same design concepts only am not sure how.

Mainly I would like to use some gradient or texture between the block as quite a few of the readers have been complaining about the white space to quote one ” This one will be too when you get all that white space out of it – everything appears to be floating on a sea of white paper and it’s easy to get lost.” How can I achieve that ?

and secondly many people enjoyed the way categories were displayed in a menu with their descriptions on the home page – as seen in here : archived
Can anyone suggest a manner by which I could achieve a similar result in Newespaper ?

My current site is at : http://www.theskykid.com

Hi,

To answer to your first question what you can do is to change the background color or use a background image, you can set this from theme panel: http://screencast.com/t/G5puf7Qas
Unfortunately the theme doesn’t have feature like that, you can try to find a plugin to display a category bar or something like that or hire freelancer to do it for you.

Thanks

Actually I am using already an image for background of the theme. What I wanted was more inbetween the block of content. Found some ideas in this topic : https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/changing-full-background-color/ however the CSS it suggested got the color not only around the articles as I wanted on the home page but also as background of each single article from within the site

Thanks

Hi,

Use the class .home so that the background will apply only to thew homepage: http://screencast.com/t/kVHRHXRbh

.home .td-page-wrap {
background-color: #4b4b4b !important;
}

Thanks
