I have done a force regenerate and it helped more of the thumbs show up, but not fit the slide area better.

Hi,
On video posts the theme automatically retrieves the video thumb and sets it as a featured image. On some cases the thumb is small. WordPress doesn’t have an upscale image function, you have to use a combination of plugins – https://wordpress.org/plugins/thumbnail-upscale/ – regenerate the existing thumbs using – https://wordpress.org/plugins/force-regenerate-thumbnails/

Unfortunately, the plugin is only able to convert a few of the images and they still do not fit.
What is the image dimension we should use from the beginning to make it fit right?

If you don’t refer only to smaller featured image, please note that it is no an ideal image size, the modules have thumbs with different aspect ratios and a part of the image may get lost on the cropping process. You could read more about the featured image size here (it’s from Newsmag documentation but the principles are the same) – https://forum.tagdiv.com/image-size/
