Hamburger Menu not opening on some categories in mobile

Strangely on mobile when on two category pages, the hamburger menu want open when clicked on it.
It works on all the other pages/posts, but not on 2 specific category pages (they seem to have nothing special compared to other categories and it only happens when on a mobile device).

What could that be?

Hi,

That is unusual indeed. Which categories are you referring to exactly, I will check them out on mobile. Provide links to them or their names so I can take a look.

These two categories:

– Photography Software: https://www.photoworkout.com/apps-software/
– Learn Photography: https://www.photoworkout.com/learn-photography/

In these two categories, the hamburger menu nor the search field will render when clicked on the icon.

I made a video of the experience on the iPhone: https://www.screencast.com/t/VAxAxymox1wZ

I have tested on 2 iPhones and the online simulator browserstack.com and it won’t work.

It seems to be an iPhone problem (it works when you make the Chrome browser small on the desktop).

It is as you say for me as well, only for those category pages. But what would be so special about them. Seems that only on those pages there is an error, some conflict

Maybe something in those pages tries to load only on mobile, the errors is not present on desktop. Block pagination does not work on mobile in those pages, when clicked leads to the top of the page. Javascript is broken but only in these categories.

The first step would be plugins, deactivate them all if possible, leave only theme plugins active. Check if the issue is solved. If you use any ads in the pages remove them temporarily and check again.

After running a test on the Firefox developer browser (picking a mobile device), I discovered this error message in the console when on the non-working categories:

TypeError: jQuery(…).attr(…) is undefined[Learn More]

Learn More > https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/JavaScript/Reference/Errors/Unexpected_type

What could that be? Are you sure it is not a theme fault?

I found the plugin that caused the problem: It was caused by the WP Retina 2x plugin. After uninstalling the plugin it works fine now.
