Header ad format?

Hello,

I need to have my own advertisement in the header ad space pointing to my ecommerce store. I made an advertising image with call to action that is 728 x 90. I got this size by right clicking on the demo ad, clicking Inspect, and seeing the image size used in that.

I tried adding the widget for a top ad, but I don’t see how to add an image into that spot. There’s a box that says CSS class, but I don’t know what that means.

If there’s a way to add an image (with a link) for the header ad spot, then I’ll also need instructions for above the footer and the sidebar ad. Just an image – no code. Maybe a shortcode, if it will pull my image.

Thanks,
Nancy

Hello Nancy.

Please read the ad section of our documentation to learn about the different ad spots our theme provides: https://forum.tagdiv.com/header-ads-adsense/
Here is the guide needed for using different ads than adsense: https://forum.tagdiv.com/using-other-ads-non-adsense-ads/

Thank you!

I did read that, and tried following the guide. I made this little video to show what I am doing and why it’s not working: http://screencast.com/t/vAjl4Vf1EID

Hello Nancy,

Pleas make sure the image is present in the url you specify. The url seems ok but you also need to make sure the image is present in the destination. Here is an example ad you can use instead. It’s from an extrenal source so it should work on your end as well just as a test:
<div class="td-all-devices"><a href="#"><img src="http://bigmobile.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/728x902.gif" /></a></div>
(this is another code which targets all devices, not a specific viewport)
If you still have trouble with the ad, please provide a link to your site so I can inspect the ad and see why this happens.

I hope this helps.

Thank you!

Your image did work, but mine does not. Can you take a look at it, please? It’s at http://blog.fairrivergifts.com – however, the ad that I uploaded isn’t there, so I’m not sure what you’ll find.

Thanks,
Nancy

Also, I put the 728×90 image in the top of the footer position and it is not showing there, either.

Thanks,
Nancy

Hi,
I have inspected the ad and it seems the ad code you are using is not returning any image. Please check the image again and use the code I provided above and sim ply change the url for the image. If the one I provided works, then yours should work also. Please check the image path to see if it;s the correct one. Add the path ion your browser and it should open the image if it;s the correct one.
Thank you!

I know – I also did that. This is the code I have in the ad box:

<div class=”td-all-devices”>
</div>

If you put the image URL in the browser, you’ll see the image, and it’s 728×90. The other URL was http://blog.fairrivergifts.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/BannerAd.png, and if you put that image into your browser, you’ll see it – same image, different URLs, both do not work in that ad box. I’m using the same code as you used. Your image shows up in the ad, but mine does not. That is the big mystery.

Thanks,
Nancy

Well, suddenly that started to show up. Since I copied and pasted the URL, I know it’s the same one, but now it’s visible.

In a related matter, I again made a video about some image problems in a post: http://screencast.com/t/90rWG5kohm

Hi there, a further question to this topic (thanks Nancy for starting it): If I want to paste in a link to an image file, how/where do I put the link that I want the image to link to?

For example, if I link to an image file that is advertising a local retailer, where do I put the link to that retailer’s website?

Thanks, Miranda

Hello,

@Nancy

This could be related top images as you say in your vide so please use this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rRrG3K4vjsk

Another possible fix: http://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/edu/wordpress/http-image-error

As for the ad you see on the post, that is no featur image, it is an artilce top ad. Please3 check the article top ad in your ads section of the theme panel and remove the article top ad.

I want to clarify something as I can see you probably think the theme is to blame for these “glitches” but it’s not :). They are problems you get locally on your end, not something that is happening for everybody. It could be a server configuration, it could even be a plugin conflict. Please try this without any plugins as well. disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Please also check any custom code you might have added to the theme panel or the theme files. If you use a child theme, please switch to the main theme to make sure it does not affect the proper functionality of the theme.

I hope this helps.

@miranda

You can add links to images when adding them into your posts and selecting what you want the image to link to like so: http://screencast.com/t/v8FupV4jRc

Thank you!
