Now that I dive further in to customizing I can see that none of the ad spots are working.

You can have the ad from the theme panel or the image, not both. In this case, if you apply both, the priority item (image with url) from the TagDiv Composer is displayed.

The issue can be from a plugin conflict, that’s why, please deactivate ALL plugins except tagDiv ones, also if you are using a cache plugin, deactivate it, clear all cache and try again.
If this problem is not solved after that, then we need to take a look and see what happened there.
