Also, I want a solid color background for the title. For that I am using a solid image as the featured image. Is there another way to do that?

Hi,

I believe the best thing to do in this case would be to remove all the modifications made to this post template and use it as it was created. It is not meant to display this way, all the design is useless as it can be seen.
I can give you a solution to patch this situation, but surely that will cause problems in another post.

As mentioned before the post template creation and templates will be modified in a pending theme update. There will be many more templates and options to design your post templates after the update.
