Hide for / Display still visible in DOM

Hi,
we realized that the content is still visible in the DOM if we hide it with either “hide for visitors” or the “display” option;
Is there a way to build elements on the page, that are actually hidden from the
1. Users that go through the DOM
2. Crawlers that might rank our content based on old, hidden content / use hidden content for AI answers?

It would be extremely helpfull in our workflow to have a clean DOM but also the possibility to plan content or hide old content elements that we might use again in the future in the editor.

Thanks!

Hi,

The option doesn’t stop the content from loading, it hides it. That’s how the option was developed at the time. There can be benefits and downsides from both hiding the content or not loading it at all. Maybe we could add an option to choose one of these depending on the case.

For content that you are hiding with the intent to reuse it in the future, you could just save it first https://prnt.sc/gL585n3aPKJ2 and then delete it from the page, it can easily be added back when you need it. Once you save it, it will appear in the composer list of elements at the bottom https://prnt.sc/7vn9-AE3kYjO

But for content hidden using the display restrictions, which must appear depending on the user, there’s no way at this time to actually stop it from loading. In the future we may add a setting for it. Sorry for this inconvenience.

Thank you!

The option you mentioned, where the content doesn’t load at all, would definitely be appreciated.

For the moment, we will use the “save element” option.

Thank you for the reply!
