It appears to be an issue only on the homepage, I have this block on a category page and it works fine. But on homepage, it seems to not have enough wrapper width to fit: http://i.imgur.com/c3ql5Lu.png
It seems that .td-container needs to be width: 1086px so Big Grid 3 lines up properly on homepage, but since it works on category page it might be another issue.

How do you get the Big Grid to work now? Mine is still all over the place
I couldn’t wait on a response, so I had to hack CSS for now.
Just drop this CSS into Visual Composer’s custom CSS on your homepage only, it’s under gear icon:
body.home .td-container {
width: 1086px;
}
That did the trick for me.

I guess that you use child theme, we know about this issue with grid when child theme is used and it will be fixed in the next update. Please switch to the main theme and see if it works and let me know. Sorry for inconvenience!

Please provide a link and more details about mobile device that you have used. If you tested on desktop and only resized the browser’s window it will look like on your images, but on mobile it should not look like that. Please check also our demo to make an idea.

I was testing this on chrome desktop via a spoofin agent plugin set to iPhone iOS.
I’m not the only one experiencing this issue but Emil has already replied to me on Envato platform saying that this is working as expected.
Anyway this is very strange to me since in v4 I was able to achieve this with the Big Grid:
p.s. the second image is weird but is a bug related to my screenshot plugin =)

tried Big Grid Slide (in VC between Big Grid 8 and News Ticker) to no avail.
Can’t reproduce the layout as per your screenshot. Still the other 3 smaller images are shown in line with scrollbar on the bottom.
I’m on v6. Maybe upgrading to v6.1 solved the issue?
