How can I add a "CONTINUE READING" or "READ MORE" button to all posts?

I have enabled the “SUMMARY” button in Settings > reading , in my main wordpress admin, and have added a “read more” tag in my posts, but it is still showing the entire post on each page. Looking to add a “READ MORE” button to each post, encouraging readers to click and improving SEO.

see example:

Is that built in to the Newspaper theme somewhere?

Thanks in advance,
DJ

Hello djgruber,

Unfortunately, the Read More tags are not working for pages but only for excerpts. In this case, please try to set it according to our documentation. Not all theme’s modules display Read More button so in order to have it on the page, you’ll have to use a module which has this button in its structure. For example, you can use module 11 or block 12: http://screencast.com/t/5mhgRrGvZZsDhttp://screencast.com/t/E18xBmSSyCk
The excerpt’s length can be set from theme panel -> excerpts for each module: http://screencast.com/t/coHOqbW3
For more information about Excerpts, please check here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/excerpts-introduction/
If is not what you mean, please provide more details about what you want to achieve so I will be able to provide a more accurate response. Also, you can provide some useful screenshots with what you want to achieve.

Thank you for your understanding!

Catalin,

Thanks… but looking for more of something like this… (you will notice a LOT of link bait articles on facebook using this approach, links to an article/excerpt, and it contains a READ MORE button.) See example and screenshot below.

is this easily achieved in the NEWSPAPER WORDPRESS THEME?

Live Example:

Catalin,

Actually, it looks like in the above example, the READ MORE button link ONLY appears on MOBILE. Not on desktop! hmmmm….

Hello djgruber,

Please provide your website URL and also, please be more specific about what kind of button you are referring to. (provide the specific URL of your website where this button would have to appear). I need this so I can inspect it closer and also, so I will be able to provide a more accurate response.

Thank you for your message!
