How can I reduce the number of DOMs on my pages?

I am using a WordPress Plugin called HUMMINGBIRD from WPMU DEV. It is giving me an assessment. One of the items I would like to improve is the number of DOM Elements. It is showing 1500, see the link below. Is this theme related? What might be causing it? How can I reduce the number of DOM elements?

Hello !

That is caused by all the elements available in your page. Content, Theme, Plugins, etc. So it is hard to tell what can be reduced in the page, the answer will be to reduce everything possible.
