How do I change this menu background?

OK, imagine the main menu in Newspaper 12 (News Magazine ) it has a matt black but motley background, I don’t know if its an image or a colour. I’d like to change this but tag div doesn’t seem to allow me to select it. How can I doi this?

You wouldn’t have to imagine if this forum allowed image uploads;).

Figured this out, I wasn’t selecting the row. So I changed the colour of the background and it looks great, except when I scroll up and a sticky menu appears it’s in the old style. Why is the old style menu showing up? Thanks.

1) how do i change the hover on main menu to be the Text rather than the box?
2) on the sub menu, “Contact Firstlane” its permanently Green unlike the rest of the sub menu. how to fix this?

on the top menu, when you mouse hover about the menu only the Text change colour to Red
