How do we get rid of this "Latest Articles" section

How do we get rid of this “Latest Articles” section above the footer on main page [or edit the layout or amount / type of posts shown] is it a widget somewhere? It is slowing up the load and just repeats the latest articles we have already shown above… can we limit the # and make it random/lazy load etc?
