How do you make a child theme?

Hello Tagdiv,

I read the documentation on child themes but I’m not clear on it.

It seems that I make a folder called Newspaper-child in the wp theme’s root (not inside newspaper theme).

Then I copy these three files? styles, functions, and single_template file and add it to the child folder???

Please advise. I made edits but It feels wrong as it isn’t working for me.
