1.7 crashed my Visual Composer. After trying for some time I got it to work, but now it doesn’t again.
I created a supportcase with Visual Composer, that after visiting my site told me that the theme crashed the VC plugin.
When can we expect a 1.8 update, or at least a 1.7.1 🙂 ?

We’re sorry for all the trouble. We are still working on implementing solution for the issues reported in the latest version and we also plan to build and add a switching on/off system for lazy loading feature which could be the issues in your case also so you could try to disable it following the instructions Emil provide in this tread: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/how-to-disabled-lazy-load/#post-42260 …then check again.

I have disabled the Lazy loading but with same result.
I will try to downgrade to 1.6.
Have downgraded to 1.6 and VC 4.4.2 and it still doesn’t work
Disabled ALL plugins – Rebooted server – Enabled only VC 4.4.2 and theme with no child theme. Still doesn’t work.
It’s really bad that I cant find the root cause to this problem.
It came after 1.7 upgrade.
Roll back the theme, plugins and VC to the versions included with 1.6 — remove all the old (new) plugin folders; make sure you clear cache(s) etc.
1.6 works well; using on 3 sites with zero trouble, 1.7 has couple of things with lazy loading, and some php issue with some code not well used by older servers. And with some plugins that auto-generate thumbs, the lazy load seems to cause the thumbs to get re-written or some bizarre thing cause a loop of doom which will crash server or domain at some point (in our case anyway).
If you can clean house and roll back to 1.6, it’s great and stable.

Since version 4.4.2 the Visual Composer plugin has doubled in size and also has several new features therefore uses more resources.
If you have access to your error.log file, you can take a look at it and see if there’s any data that can lead to a conclusion on why the VC plugin has crashed.
You can also try to increased the memory limit in php.ini, might be your issue.
