I’d like to add an image to the boxes on the front page but would like to link it to an article on a different website, is this possible? If so how could I do this?
Also i’d like to make the boxes a little rounder than sharp edges, is this possible too?

I suppose that you want to add an image with the external link for your front page. If you want to do this, you have to use a text block element from Visual Composer, add an image and then you will have to set a custom URL, like this -> http://screencast.com/t/KCG5VPATWt -> http://screencast.com/t/liI9SBBo5rNS
For your second request, please provide more details in this regard, so I will be able to provide a more accurate response. Also, you can provide some useful screenshots for a good understanding.

Please notice that this is a Visual Composer element and you can get like this -> http://screencast.com/t/3uvX1MsXjlb If you want that all your image to have the round corners, you have to use a bit of CSS code to do that. Please try to use img {border-radius:10px}.

I am still unable to do it. I would like it so the image displays in the blocks on the front page but when you click on the image, it takes you to a different site. At the moment when I click on it, it leads to a post page but I would like it to link to a completely different site.

Its the posts featured on in the blocks on the front page which I would like to link directlty to another site
i.e http://hagg.la/ I would like the post to link to a different site (custom url) rather than: http://hagg.la/apple-server-most-powerful-rack-optimized-server/

Please notice that if you want to change the link for each featured image that will be displayed in your block, it is not a simple task because the theme behaviour it is that this link to take you to the post page link. If you want to change the structure of this feature, please notice that is not a simple task and require to do a lot of additional customizations through code that involves custom work. If you want to display more levels in our theme and you are not aware of the steps which you are needed to take in this regard, please consider hiring a freelancer/developer to help you because we cannot provide customization services at the moment, sorry!
In conclusion, our theme does not have such an option to offers you the way to replace the URL with another custom URL for each featured image from your block, sorry!
