Hello, the feature I really like about this Newsmag theme is the ad spots.
But, there are only 5 custom ad spots available.
Is it possible to add more custom ad spots? And how to do that?

To add a new custom ad you have to edit the following files like here:
– td_panel_ads.php – http://screencast.com/t/csyUpkoa – http://pastebin.com/v9xwLdQz
– td_block_ad_box.php – http://screencast.com/t/mRzwOa0Q5
– td_config.php – http://screencast.com/t/m3REo5pm
Result should be like here: http://screencast.com/t/FxYioNcpNS
This was just an example for custom ad 6. To add more custom ads follow the same steps but make sure you update properly the ad-spot ids.

Can I do this (adding custom spots) somehow on the child theme? Because if I do this on the main theme, I will lose everything at the next update. [And probably I won’t remember the changes I made anyway.]

Unfortunately those files cannot be overwritten from child theme, sorry. We plan to extend the child theme support for the theme in near future but for thew moment only the files indicated in our documentation: https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-child-theme-support/
For now you need to keep track your modifications and re-add theme after each update.

Hi. That ain’t very helpful maintenance-wise, but it must do the job for the moment. (By the way is there an eta for the feature to be implemented? )
In the meanwhile, I created 10 more custom spots, following the instructions above. Now, though i can see them in the theme panel, I still need to be able to choose them in my layout from visual composer. How do I do that?

Please add “more custom ad spots” to the feature wish list (Newsmag and Newspaper). Based on the threads about that topic there seems to be really a need, not just for me.

Thanks for your suggestion, I’ve added it on our list and we will consider it for future updates. However I can’t say how soon will be implemented as we have a long list with feature requests and we have to pick carefully what features will be added to the theme.
