How to edit header.php?

I want to add adsense javascript between <head></head>, when I edit header.php in wp-content/themes/Newspaper/header.php and put the code before </head> nothing appear on the website. How to add javascript to the header?

i need to paste javascript before </head> line, I don’t want to use any of Newspaper theme panel ads option.

Hello @johnsnow!

The code should be placed in the Theme Panel -> Analytics/Js Codes. This is the best option for this. 
Any changes you make in the theme files after each update will be overwritten, and you will have to make the changes again and again.
