How to edit single article post?

Hi,

As i have to add custom ocde for single post and am trying to edit the loop-single.php but still its not reflecting on frontpage.

So is there any other file where i can add code for single post? And also why loop-single.php is not working?

And if we need to add custom code but it should not override while updating.
So how should we add this file in child theme?
