Hello is there a way, even hackish to completely remove the “Custom Post Type – layout settings” from the editor? I know it can be hidden but i need it removed because people use it and i don’t want them to be able to remove the sidebar.

You can achieve that by editing td_templates_settings.php file and commenting this code: http://screencast.com/t/mBBEgFdvG42N Now the settings fro custom post types won’t be available for any user.

Is it possible not loose this change on theme update? I tried recreating the path on my child theme but it doesn’t use my file.

Unfortunately, this option can be disabled only from code. Does not exists any setting in theme panel, sorry!
