Hi!
Do not feel like an idiot: you’re just asking what you don’t know:-)
As for the child theme, you just need to upload to your /wp-content/themes folder both themes, main theme and child theme (unzipped). Then, just activate child-theme (NOT main). Et voilà: you can use it as you would normally do.
To make it clear: upload and activate child-theme unzipped folder, as you would do with any other other theme but, in this case, you need to upload (but NOT activate) the main theme, too.

Hi,
Just something extra, you can follow this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-child-theme-support-tutorial/
Hope it helps.
Thank you!
Hi,
I’ve just set up the child theme for Newspaper version 6.7.1 but getting an issue where the default sidebar now appears in the footer.
This is despite the fact that I have yet to make any changes in the Child Theme…I have literally set it up as I normally would do with just a style.css to check it works and got this result. I then used the child files from the latest download on Theme Forest and get the same result.
Any ideas?
Hello wwth,
We know about the problem which was caused by the latest version of the WordPress (V.4.5). We noticed that the widgets from the sidebar were moved in the footer section. As a temporary fix, please check your Widgets area from your panel and please simply move the widgets from Footer 3 to the Newspaper default, like this -> http://screencast.com/t/nK2tEqMuORO
We have added this issue to our list of fixes and we will fix it in near future update.
Thank you for the message!
I have been running my website with the theme, not a child theme. I have only made CSS changes within the custom CSS pane in the Theme Panel. Do you recommend that I create a child theme instead? I figured that since I’m not customizing the CSS beyond this, that there wouldn’t be any need. Please advise. Thanks!
