Thanks for the video, however that did not address the question. I am familiar with creating basic menu structure.
In the example below, I have a Main Menu item and 3 submenus. The Main Menu has a linked page as does each of the submenu items. Once I add a submenu, the Main Menu item is no longer clickable. How do I make the Main Menu item AND the submenu items clickable.

What you can do is to set the menu using custom links, at least for the main parent element from the menu, in this way it should be ok.

I added a Custom Link as suggested. Same result.

I see that on the element is set pointer-events: none; also it seems to be recognized like inactive menu element.
