How to place Custom HTML before closing body tag

I would like to place some custom ad code (Javascript) before the closing </body> tag. Since the footer.php in the Theme Editor seems be overidden, I went to the Theme Panel and used

YOUR CUSTOM HTML
“Add custom html easly, using this editor. The html will be placed at the end of the page.”

However, this does not seem to add the code before the closing body tag. Instead, it was placed right after the <div class=”td-container”> — and there is quite a bit of code following.

How do I get the code closer to the closing of the page? Can you help?

Thank you for the help on this. For others who may be looking for the same answer, there is a way to add custom script in the footer area in the Theme Panel.

… just click on Theme Panel > Analytics/JS Codes
