I removed ‘category’ in the url and now it’s giving 404 missing page errors for the main menu categories. Any way to fix this and have the best of both worlds?

Hello!
How did you removed the “category” from your URL ? Please note that the permalinks can be sensitive if not set correctly. Also this is a wordpress feature/issue from what I can see: https://muffingroup.com/blog/remove-category-from-wordpress-url/

I think I tried both the “.” method and the code in functions.php. But the problem is that it makes those category pages throw 404 errors. Is there a way to fix this?

Unfortunately for this you will have to consult WordPress support since it is not Theme related.
