How to remove page archive from frontend?

Hi,

On all our sites using Newspaper Theme, there is a strange archive (indexed by Google) that displays all posts ever created on a site. This becomes visible by adding e.g. “/page/XXX?p=Abonnier”. Depending on the number of posts created on the site, there are more or fewer pages with all posts, simply replace the XXX by a number. I just took the URL of someone else out of the forum and could reproduce this. (https://www.sophiadigital.es/page/25/?p=Abonnier)

How can I remove this archive?

Thanks!

Hello,

I do not quite understand the problem, you have some links that Google index them and those link have the terminal like this “/page/XXX?p=Abonnier” ? usually in url after you set the “?” you can write anything without affect the url functionality.
Also once you set the “/page/XXX?p=Abonnier” in url, this will not disappear until you click on a post/page or logo.

Thank you!

Hello Calin,

Thanks for your reply. These pages should not exist as they are a strange list of all posts. They are nowhere linked but can be opened by adding. /page/X?p=Abonnier to any Website using your Newspaper Theme. Her is another example: Link This is our site and it has currently 367 of this strange pages. Your site has 17 (https://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/page/17/?p=Abonnier)

How can I disable this?

Thanks!

Hello,

You can try the parameters on any websites and you’ll see that this will work, if the parameters are not index by Google, then there is no problem because this parameters “?p=Abonnier” can appear only if is set manually, also is possible to use some plugins that add this parameters.
Here is an example on bbc website -> https://www.screencast.com/t/hNJUlmBW44m

Thank you!

Hi,

Sorry but on BBC there is no such archive (https://www.screencast.com/t/raelbsHiwO), this seems to be something newspaper theme related. I think you didn’t understand the issue correctly, the problem is not just the parameter “?p=Abonnier”, its the combination of “/page/X?p=Abonnier” which makes this archives visible. And they do appear on Google (https://www.screencast.com/t/jopawbq8lt). Please forward this issue to a developer.

Thanks!

Hello,

I’ve made some more investigations, and is appear that is no need to set “/page/X?p=Abonnier” you can set “/page/X?p=everythingHere” and will display the blog posts pagination -> http://prntscr.com/pba7f5 if you set a page number that do not exist in Blog page you’ll get a 404 -> http://prntscr.com/pba832
Also this is happen on a default theme too.
-> http://prntscr.com/pba9fe -> https://www.screencast.com/t/MNFs9qtQB

If you want you can try to remove those type of links -> Remove URLs Tool

Thank you for your understanding!
