one question about image uploading: When doing so inside post editor -> media upload, I have to crop or skip cropping. If I crop it, there will be a copy in media library. It’s called cropped-<image-name>.jpg. We don’t want to crop images at all. How can we skip this step (https://www.screencast.com/t/JcAJh4jHoM)?

That is an option from WordPress and it has nothing to do with Newspaper Theme. You could try and contact wordpress for that but I don’t think they will provide any solution for that option.

That’s strange. Never seen that before. I know it from media library but not from post editor. Is it a Gutenberg function?

That function comes from the base of wordpress because it requires cropping depending the theme you use.
