I want my posts to have the “Single Post Next Prev” element at the bottom of each one. I see the settings for this element offer the option to “Display posts from the same category,” which I have activated.
However, it seems that this element randomly chooses a category by which to display. I want it to choose a specific category.
In this screenshot (https://imgur.com/a/OOhYLLR), the given post has the following categories:
– Podcast
— Odd Trilogies
wherein “Odd Trilogies” is a subcategory of parent “Podcast.”
For some reason, the Next Prev element seems to be using “Podcast” as the operative category for filtering, but I want it to filter for subcategory “Odd Trilogies” and thus show the next post with the category of “Odd Trilogies.”
As you can see “Audio Review 1” is displayed as the next article. “Audio Review 1” is in the category “Podcast” but not “Odd Trilogies,” so it shouldn’t display.
How do I adjust this filtering?

You can not choose a specific category; there will be a current category of the post.
Also, check the setting on the front end. Please provide the link to your website.

I want it to show Previous and Next post within the category “Reviews,” not “Podcasts.” “Reviews” is currently set as the primary category for the post, and yet the Next Prev element seems to be defaulting to “Podcasts” as its operative category.

The option “Display posts from the same category” will pick posts that have at least one category in common with the current post. Unfortunately, there is no filter option.
