How to use columns shortcode properly

Hello Tag Div,

I’m writing because I’m trying to use the columns short-code to organize the layout of a timeline. However, it is extremely difficult to do. I can’t make it to have all the text aligned from the top and divided equally. (http://www.calgarianvanguard.com/?p=413&preview=true&preview_id=413&preview_nonce=443e68d94f&post_format=standard)

Is there a way to select the whole text I want to divide, and use a short-code so WordPress divide it equally automatically?

I don’t know If I explain myself. I’m finding very difficult to use column shortcodes for daily use.

I’m trying to use the column divider shortcut [vc_row][vc_column width="1/3"]Add content here[/vc_column][vc_column width="1/3"]Add content here[/vc_column][vc_column width="1/3"]Add content here[/vc_column][/vc_row] To create a section in an article with three columns. However, It is hard to divide the text equally among the columns. It has to be done manually, and it is a hit and miss process.

Is there an easier way to divide text equally among columns? I don’t know If I’m explaining myself well.

Hi; we used to deal with this in QuarkXPress for print publishing back in the day.

Back then we’d be able to use text reflow to fit a space, then we’d sometimes have to adjust image size to even things out, and in some cases cut words from story to fit.

Other option commonly used is to let there be blank space in the final column at bottom.

So

_  _  _
_  _

but hard to do since the text can resize based on viewport, and not all letters are the same EM width unless you use a font like courier, so as text size changes the height of each column changes too.

There are some pretty advanced plugins which handle this kind of thing better, but generally it’s a bit hit or miss since text is not “static” on the web.
