It is an active link that will go to # on this page. I just noticed it this evening. Any ideas on how I can get rid of it.

We have not encountered such an issue before. Maybe you have a custom code in the theme files soewhere or a plugin that does this. Please try to restore the theme to it;s default state by removing any custom code and deactivating all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files.
(also check the custom code section in the theme panel and remove the code from there as well)

I have figured out where it is coming from. On your classic blog there is a ad that shows up when loading the default content. How can I turn this off?
I can’t figure out how to post as image from Google drive so I will try to describe it. The ad shows up at the bottom of all posts. It says 728 x 90 Ad – Trusted and loved by 10,000+ users – What you waiting – Buy Now.
I don’t want that to show on my site. All the ad settings by default are turned off.

We were able to see the screenshot as the link works, only our forum does not display images. The ads can be deactivated from the theme panel ads area. The ad you are referring to is the article bottom ad. Every ad can be deactivated from here: http://screencast.com/t/GSPnHgAn
Just delete the ad code inside these boxes and your ads will no longer display. For this particular ad, yu need to remove the code in the article bottom section: http://screencast.com/t/K5mFY93Ba2S2
