Are you maybe using a plugin that ads more settings or buttons to the MCE editor? You could check the plugin settings in this case.
If I misunderstand please let me know, also provide some more details about the problem.

So you would like to create two columns in the post content, that is possible. Please check in the formats drop-down – https://prnt.sc/omx0fq
The option should be there, exactly as in my screenshot. Let me know if you have more questions.
