Image display issues in 9.1 update

Hi guys, hope you’re all well.

We’ve noticed some display issues after upgrading to v9.1 this morning:
1. some of our Flex Box 1 blocks decided to throw a module overlay in that wasn’t there before. Only in a few cases, but it was the same image placement on three different sites (same design):
https://www.screencast.com/t/AgR40gJumJW

Example URL: http://compareallvans.co.uk/

It was an easy fix to take it out, but I assume it’s not supposed to be there in the first place. We use that flex block a lot and the vast majority were unaffected, so not sure why it affected that lead image only.

2. On our featured background images, the cropping seems to have gone wrong somewhere. In 9.1 we can now crop vertical alignment by steps of 1%, which is fantastic, but cropping to 50% seems to cause a problem. If we crop to 49% or 51% it looks absolutely fine, with the image almost perfectly centred as you’d expect. But if you select 50%, it seems to suddenly crop to the top (ie – 0%). Some examples from three different sites, where the vehicle in the image is now falling out of the bottom of the frame:
http://compareallvans.co.uk/suzuki-jimny-test-drive/
https://thetruckexpert.co.uk/road-to-zero-could-mean-a-dead-end-for-truck-operators/
https://www.thecarexpert.co.uk/aston-martin-dbs-superleggera-fastest-ever/

Obviously this only happens where the image size is larger than the space provided, but it affects a large number of our images as everything is vertically aligned to what used to be centre (now 50%).

I hope there is a relatively easy fix for this, because I don’t want to go back into every page (and post template) and align everything to 51% to get around it…

Other than that, still loving v9. We’ve made a few new tweaks based on the new features and demos added to 9.1, and are planning even more based on the incredible flexibility you guys have built into the theme.

Cheers,

stuart

Hi,

1. That’s unusual, so this happened after the update and by it’s own? Looks like there still is a gradient set for the modules. That gradient is set in the flex block->style settings-> module color overlay
https://www.screencast.com/t/Qqve5oIE
If no value is added manually there should be no gradient.

2. I see the problem you mention, I will add it on the list and it will be investigated and a solution will be found. A solution which will work is to make a small modification in the cloud library plugin
https://www.screencast.com/t/pYTJrvtuLyz
Remove the condition as shown around the code, then if the value is at 50% (default) the images will be truly centered. Let me know if this works, in my tests it seems to work.

Sorry for this inconvenience, it will be fixed.
Thanks

Many thanks Simion.

With regards to No.1, it may have something in how we set it originally for that image, since we copied the same layout across multiple sites. It’s an easy fix, but I left it as it was on that site to show what I meant.

Thanks for the tip on No. 2. That has fixed the problem perfectly, and everything is now aligned properly once again!

Cheers,

stuart

Hi,

Glad it worked and sorry again for the inconvenience. We try to test all the settings properly before releasing an update, it seems that in some cases it’s still not enough however. We will make some more tests.
Let us know if you should find other issues or you have more questions.

Thanks
