What about if I want to link to an external site, instead of the image? Currently, the image opens like your option (I dont want) – but than shows the error message. As a workaround, I need to link a sub-text instead of the image :-/

Unfortunately, our modal image will not work if the image links to anything else besides the media file. You cannot have a modal image and have the image link to an external site so we suggest disabling the modal image if you want to use external links to your images. https://forum.tagdiv.com/modal-window/

I have put the image already on “off” (modal), and the link to an external site (not image). However, as I click on the link it wants to open the image (with ERROR) instead of opening the link :-/

Please try to turn of the General Modal Image because this is more restrictive settings for entire website instead of the Modal image setting for each image, like this -> http://screencast.com/t/3NYyiBMzLs Clear all your caches and test it again.
