Hello,
On the home page of my site featured images show up in different aspect ratios
At the top they look good and show the full image. Down in block 6 they are cropped. How can I make sure that they image is shown the same in all locations?
Thank you, Toby
Well they should all fit, unless the image on front page is larger than the image you upload; WordPress cannot “enlarge” thumbnails … so, you will end up with blank space someplace with the image thumb if block image larger than original image as it will crop in one dimension only.
So, try using the “thumbnail upscale” (free) plugin which will help to scale up any image to fit a block when cropping it. It works both retroactively when regen thumbs, but also for future featured images.
It’s what I use. 🙂
Hi,
@tobiasg Unfortunately the aspect ratio of your image create this issue, as there is not an ideal image size so it can look good on all thumbs, you will need to make some tests and see which image aspect ratio to use of course depending on the blocks/modules that you use. If you want to change thumbnails sizes – http://screencast.com/t/gjw1fcCncI
You can find out more about cropping here – http://www.davidtan.org/wordpress-hard-crop-vs-soft-crop-difference-comparison-example/ – https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/add_image_size
Hope this helps!
