When I look at the images used in the blocks, they are full size. So for example, the full size image is 500×500.
On the homepage and sidebars, images are used in a block that should serve much smaller images. But when I right click on the image URL, it is being served as the full sized image /uploads/image01.jpg and not /image01-300-300.jpg (Just making up size numbers). So according to Google Page Speed, I need to resize my images.
I never touched the thumbnail settings from the default (as far as I can remember). Some of the images are from pre-Newspaper theme and some have been uploaded since switching. Do I need to regenerate all thumbnails?
That will take about a day or more of time so before I do it, I’d like a concrete answer. Thanks.
Hello,
If you did not regenerate your thumbnails after you activated newspaper, then you need to do so: https://forum.tagdiv.com/thumbnails-fix-strange-looking-images-on-blocks/
Thank you!
thanks. that will do what I asked? Please answer the question.
Hi,
Every time you switch themes, you should regenerate thumbnails as every theme uses it’s own thumbnail size. They are not compatible with one another.
You can use the ‘force regenerate’ plugin that will also delete any unused thumbs from your site.
Thank you!
And doing this will fix this?
But when I right click on the image URL, it is being served as the full sized image /uploads/image01.jpg and not /image01-300-300.jpg (Just making up size numbers). So according to Google Page Speed, I need to resize my images.
Hello,
If a thumb is not created, then the theme will use the full image and re-size it to fit the container. If you want to have proper thumbnails, please make sure the thumb is activated from here: http://screencast.com/t/IpQ7UviEvEp and then regenerate thumbnails so the theme can grab the proper image size.
Thanks.
