One other problem, what are the correct sizes for images on Newspaper? We are currently using 800X400, but they are not appearing correctly.

Check under theme panel>block settings>thumbs on modules/blocks for the various thumbnails used by the theme.

You should regenerate the thumbnails using the Force Regenerate and Thumbnails Regenerate plugins. Please check the following documentation from here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/thumbnails-fix-strange-looking-images-on-blocks/
