Image thumbnail – featured not loading

Hi,

i just installed your theme and trying to understand how it works. I have a big issue with image thumbnail regeneration:

1. i’m actually regenerating thumbnails with wordpress plugin, 50% of work done which is 3000 images out of 6400.
2. i’m not sure if it would show it already, but i don’t see any of the thumbnail working (in case it was regenerated)
3. the only thumbnail working are those done manually or pre-existed where the featured thumbnail was set from the post editor control panel.

Should the regen. thumbnail plugin work also with your thumbnail!?

I’m asking it because i tried to post a new article and i noticed that if “featured image” is not set, the theme does not generate it by itself.

Another thing that is warrying me is that when a featured image is set it doubles the image in the post in case you don’t delete it manually…and if this is done automatically would be a huge problem cause i can’t figure how to modify more than 2000 posts in order to remove the double image.

do i always need to set the featured image in order to have the thumbnail?

Edit: i found the settings that avoid the doubled image.

Yes. Most WP themes now use the built in functions of WordPress to create thumbnails. This is done by setting a featured image. Otherwise if you had 5 images placed into a post, you’d get tons of redundant thumbnails not used, since theme uses “featured” image to be featured on all the indexes, related, home page, etc. This is normal practice.

We do the same thing here: our existing content has images placed at top of the post, so we turn off the featured image option, but still have to choose a featured image to get thumbnails.

So, we actually use a plugin to set first image from post automatically as featured image.

We use “Auto Post Thumbnail PRO” to automatically make first image from post or video if no image into the “featured” image for existing content. Works great.

Also, “Thumbnail Upscale” works well if you have smaller images and want to enlarge them to fit the new layouts.

we are developing our site on newspaper. I Have a question on this issue.

Our archive has neve used Featured Images, no we set them all, on the theme panel i activate “show feat images” on the post, the result is that we have old post with 2 images.

We would like for the new ones to set only the feat image, and show that in the post, but we don’t know how to do to cancel double images on ancient post.

Please let me know if you have a solution.

I know of no way of doing that.
