Images are blurry – tried everything

Hi there, I’ve really been struggling with blurry thumbnails and featured images on my site. I’ve disabled WP Smush, disabled WP Super Cache, regenerated thumbnails, done it all and nothing is working. I’m uploading images at full size – most are over 1000px wide.

You can see when you click into each article the image is crisp and clear.

I believe it’s the theme that’s affecting thumbnail quality. See screenshot here:

The images I upload are high quality. I don’t have a caching plugin or an image compression plugin active.

Thoughts?

If using jetpack, or certain cdn setups, or if your host is running mod pagespeed, these can affect image quality.

I can’t recall – it was two years ago, but I think it was just their standard demo which I tweaked with a bit of custom CSS.

Thank you for your answer. I’m building my own website and i find yours very interesting in design especially the clean setup of the menu background. Mine goes horizontal from left to right all over the monitor and yours is cut in width along with the content of the website. I was looking to optimize mine like that. Thanks anyway.

Here it is. I’m still working on it so it’s not finished yet.

All I did was make the background of the main banner transparent and made the actual menu background black.

You can add this to custom CSS:

.td-header-wrap .td-header-menu-wrap-full {
background-color: transparent;

.td-header-main-menu {
background-color: #000;
}

Hope this helps!

And one last question. Where do i put this custom css?

You can put it under Salient theme options > Advanced > Custom CSS, or you can put it under Appearance > Customize > Custom CSS.

My thumbnails are blurry (poor quality) too, including logo image. It’s very obvious. I’ve regenerated thumbnails. This is a problem caused by this theme because I was using another theme with this same site and had crystal clear images, these same images. Any ideas on how to fix?

Hi, no sadly I didn’t but it doesn’t seem to be for all browsers and devices.
