I have been converting my site to Newspaper in a staging environment. I’m using template 4 for most of the posts, and all my existing images are working fine for featured images and galleries. I’ve just added dome new images and the featured image and gallery images are being cropped weirdly. I understand Newspaper uses centre top crop but I don’t think this is that, plus existing images are not being cropped this way
I’ve now moved to live site and updated to 8.7.2. The problem still exists, all featured images uploaded prior to activating Newspaper show correctly. New images uploaded since Newspaper activated (the exact same dimensions as previous images) only show the bottom 50%. Please help it’s making my site look awful.
Hello GregStewart,
That may be a thumbnail issue, please try to regenerate the thumbnails
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/thumbnails-fix-strange-looking-images-on-blocks/
The theme uses a center-top cropping for the thumbnails used by all modules
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/featured-image/
The resulting thumbnails are also affected by image aspect ratio
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/thumbnails-vs-featured-image-size/
If is not what you mean, please provide more details about your problem (provide some screenshots) and your website so I can identify the problem.
Thanks.
Hi,
I have tried regenerating thumbnails. If you look at this link, where the featured image was uploaded prior to moving to Newspaper it looks fine:
https://theatreweekly.com/cast-and-creatives-announced-for-heretic-voices-competition/
The next link shows an image (same size) uploaded after Newspaper 8 installed:
https://theatreweekly.com/shakespeare-in-the-square-announces-2018-production-of-as-you-like-it/
This is the bottom half of the image that is being displayed and it’s happening on most post types
Hello GregStewart,
I saw that you are using too small images for this kind of post template and that’s why you bring these bad results, sorry! I suggest you load another big image if you want to use this post template. Clear all the caches and check the results.
Thanks for your understanding!
I had already tried this, but have tried again using 1068 x 713 as suggested by Newspaper documentation. The same problem still exists – the top half is completely cut off:

Here is another example which may make the problem more visible https://theatreweekly.com/richard-clews-and-sarah-lam-complete-casting-of-the-country-wife/
