Images do not resize correctly

Hi!

From last update, we are having an issue with images in our Newspaper template.

On one hand, the uploaded images do not resize correctly and there are blank spaces everywhere. It has never happened before 🙁

On the other hand, when we try to edit a photo, it seems to broke down. At last, we have to upload a new one if we want to solve it.

Do you know how to solve it?

Thank you.

Lara.

Did you try to ‘regenerate’ your thumbnails ? This is often necessary when some elements of a theme change markedly and some modules/sizes change. Your site may have had temporary versions of the new sizes, and they no longer exist due to how your files are stored (e.g., CDN, Jetpack, etc.).

Try the “regenerate thumbnails” plugin. If your images need to be make larger, not supported by WP, add the “thumbnail upscale” plugin first; then run the regen plugin. (Both are free plugins, and essentials.)

If you’re using Photon from Jetpack this is common issue with theme updates and you need to refresh that. Theme has no control over how your images stored on Jetpack or other CDN cloud systems.

Hi,

Please try to regenerate your thumbnails using this – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-fix-strange-thumbnails/
If your featured images are smaller, you will need to use plugin like Thumbnail Upscale to enlarge thumbnails: https://wordpress.org/plugins/thumbnail-upscale/ like already Christopher suggested. For upscale use a combination of plugins Thumbnail Upscale + Force Regenerate.

Thanks!

Hi,

I had done so before I wrote the topic because I had read about it in some other post. We do not use photon or CDN. However, I’ve just tried it again and nothing happens.

I’m going to back up the database, upload the whole theme and plugins again and I’ll tell you if it’ll solve anything.

Do you know if there is any problem with images editing in the new WP release? We cannot edit uploaded photos either.

Thanks for your quick reply.

Regards,

Lara.

If you can’t edit uploaded photos that is usually a caching issue, or conflict with a plugin interfering with the media editor; so a clean install of WP might be a good idea!

Thanks!

I’ll do it 🙂

Hi!

It seemed that someone had been uploading lots of images and there were not enough web space ^^U

However, I made a clean install and regenerate thumbnails in order to clean up the mess with thousands (4815!) of useless images. Everything works perfectly since then.

I appreciate so much your help 🙂

Regards!

Lara.
