Images not visible

Hi there once again, I hate to be a burden but I don’t know who else to ask.

I have a problem, I use module 8 or 9 for my Newspaper, but it doesn’t show the images.
The images are embedded within the posts and therefore not uploaded to my WordPress (so as a link from another site) if that helps, but they are visible when people press “verder lezen” and get to the full article.

My problem in images:

2) http://imgur.com/cLq2ica

Please let me know how I can resolve this issue and properly make use of Module 8 or 9.

Thanks,
Dreamsiter.

When you create a post, you should set its “Featured Image”:

The “Featured Image” does not seem to support image hotlinking by default, so you may have to first download the image to your computer and then upload it when you set the featured image of your post.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Tintimes,

So is there no alternative to this? I import my news articles automatically by means of a plugin, and this plugin is not capable of downloading the images and attaching them to the post (yet). So is there really no other way?

Hi, Dreamsiter

we have this same issue where we have our “mothership” news system, and then some satellite sites which pull the text image via a feed as syndicated content. Obviously no way to make a featured image doing this using the modern WordPress “auto thumbnail” setup that relies on server side image libraries (old themes used a thumbnail php script, like timthumb or modded variant to write custom files — Woo still does this as fallback for instance, and you can use that to pull images from other sites by adding allowed domain to thumb.php file) ….

So, how to get this to work — while ‘regenerate thumbnail’ plugin works great for old stuff, doesn’t help with new … so, I found one plugin that we’ve used successfully, and is also available on themeforest [correction: one of Envato’s sister sites, actually, CodeCanyon] for $7

Cheap enough to try and see if it works for you (above is a regular URL, not an affiliate link or promoted link). It will auto set first image as ‘featured’ and was the best solution we found for this exact issue.

There may be other ones in the wordpress.org plugins repository, but most seems fraught with old old code, not current in past couple of years, so use any such with major caution.

$7 is worth the try. 🙂

(I have no relationship with the plugin or developer — just suggested.)

Hi there Christopher,

You’re a golden man, the plugin worked as you described it would and the featured images are appearing. Thanks a million!

As for this thread; mod/admin can close it or sticky it so future customers with the same issue can make use of this plugin.

Thanks again community!
