In order to use the theme api you have to know basic html/css/php. Especially PHP. There is no code you can copy and paste. You have to create your own code using the guide provided by the docs. The API is for advanced users that know their way around PHP and want to customize their site further than the theme panel allows. If you cannot do it, we suggest you hire a freelancer from sites like studio.envato.com to do it for you.
