I’ve just purchased the Newspaper theme (OMG it is absolutelly amazing! 🙂 ), but I’m having issues when importing content from my old website.
The featured images are not coming along with imported files.
In the old site I used to have NEXTGen Gallery. Do I have to install this? Will it run on Newspaper?
Any help will be much appreciated, since the old site has over 15K articles and images. :/

Did you migrated the database from one host to another? if you did check the official migration documentation – https://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress – The images url must be fixed, use this plugin – https://wordpress.org/plugins/velvet-blues-update-urls/

Yes, I did migrate database. URLs might be the problem, according to documentation you provided above.
We’re actually moving server/hosting provider, but will keep same domain name, so for now I’m running WP install with Newspaper Theme on a subdomain (already with new host). Old site’s still live, running on old server.
Do I have to change URLs to subdomain and then to main domain when going live officially on new server?
I’m not a developer, I usually work with WP import/export, but this is my first time migrating servers. Quite scary :/

There are some really detailed “how to move your wordpress site” tutorials online, which is way outside the scope of the theme, since it’s not theme specific.
FYI, I use “DUPLICATOR” plugin to seamlessly move from one location to another, including updating URLs such as change of domain name. Really works!

Please try Emil’s solution provide above to change the image url using that plugin and if it works, so you can do the same when you change back to the main domain.
