Hi,

please try this latest version of social counter. https://forum.tagdiv.com/files_for_users/td-social-counter.zip
if the 0 number is cached, after installing the plugin try to switch to a different instagram id (like cocacola) -> refresh the front page and -> then back to your id.

OK I will try that and report back.
I can not get the current version to update no matter what I try.
Will let you know

Thanks

That worked – next question.

Why do you have to update the social counter block in every location?
why cant you just put the info into the Theme Panel –> Social Networks and not have to update the block every time?

I have the social counter on the homepage and on the pages inside the site displaying the individual articles. I have to update the social medial info on the Page and then again in the Widget.

Shouldn’t it just automatically tie back to the info entered on the Social Networks tab of the theme panel? then only have to enter 1 time and the block updates across all pages or places used.

Social tab in the theme panel is for top of the page.
Social widget can be different based on page, post, homepage, etc. – more flexible.

Some folks want some stuff top of page, different things/accounts in sidebar.
Sidebar code uses hooks for counting; items for top of menu bar just for click-through.

Many of us don’t want “one for all” but location/placement specific usage.

makes sense and I understand.

thought it would be easier to have a default setting and then if you use the block anywhere else you can manually tweak if desired.

Either way works of course.

Yeah. Throws me off anytime I upgrade and have to redo the widgets … and I go … um? What? 🙂

So now I have a cheat sheet of author social media links, site social links for the single sites, network links for the “entire” network, so I can keep track of the pesky who/what/where on which social link goes where.

Hi @TVDinner

I’ve added this suggestion to our feature request tracker. Thanks for your feedback.
