No matter how many times i try to change my IG widget it doesnt change. What am i doing wrong? I have already deleted and re installed the Social Counter plugin and cleared my cookies.
Plus i cant find the where i change the author’s name in the same side bar.
Hi,
The social counter has to be configured according to this guide
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/tagdiv-social-counter-tutorial-2/
If it is set properly there should be no issue. Instagram requires an ID only, for setting it up in the counter or the Instagram widget. Like in this example on a page
– https://www.screencast.com/t/eV5bwReGZKy
Multiple layouts can be achieved through the widget
– https://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/instagram-widget/
Pages can be edited with the tagDiv composer, anything can be customized
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/tagdiv-composer-tutorial/
I am assuming the author name in the sidebar is an author box
– https://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/author-box/
That can be customized by editing the page as well.
Please let us know if you need further help, or you have more questions.
Thanks
I too am having issues with Instagram in my social media counter widget. All my other social networks are updating except Instagram. Any advice?
EDIT: After inspecting the link, it looks like it’s adding a “#” at the end of the link. Whereas Twitter shows up as intended (i.e. “http://twitter.com/MyUsername”), Instagram shows up like “http://instagram.com/MyUsername#”.
In the widget set up both are just the respective ID’s: MyUsername. But Instagram has a pound sign. Is that related to our issue here?

Hi,
@kylevorbach That should not cause any issues. In my test it works properly regardless

This could be a caching issue, please clear any caching installed. Check with the hosting provider there might be a server side cache as well.
Thanks
Thank you for the response Simion. I will check on that.
One more question: I do not have the newest version of the theme installed– would that be a cause for issue? My understanding is that it wouldn’t because no API is necessary for Instagram followers to display.
Hi,
The social Instagram count worked properly in older versions of the theme as well, for that time period. Worth mentioning that the social counter code may have changed during updates to adapt for changes in the socials implementation.
Try downloading the latest theme package and install the social counter plugin from there. Configure it and see if it displays accurate information
