Do you have a way to work around that? Yoast is installed on the site, and is trying to use a 410 when deleting an existing page.

That option comes from YOAST Premium, Newspaper theme does not have any options in this matter. You will have to contact Yoast for this or look at some redirect external plugins.

Yes, this is possible.
1. Go into the theme directory and copy 404.php to 410.php
2. edit 410.php (be careful not to break the code.)
– change ‘Ooops… Error 404’
– to ‘Ooops… Error 410’
This may be deleted when you update the theme, so it would be better to do this by using a child theme and then it will survive a theme update.
The TagDiv team could easily add this to the theme and everyone would have it.
