Is there a documented Changelog

Our deployment is currently running newspaper v6.5.1 and I’d like to upgrade to v6.7 but I’m not able to find a detailed changelog that lists what files have been modified since v6.5.1 that I can hand off to my developer.

Changelog usually found in the ‘all files’ download of theme from themeforest.

Yeah I seen that change log but it doesn’t state which specific files where touched. It’s more like a modification log than anything else.

There are 2 different change logs … did you look at both ?

There is usually one which lists all the files changed.

Or for those who are possibly lost:

“update_log.txt”

[ Version 6.7 ]
– new: Visual Composer plugin updated to the latest version 4.11
– new: Revolution Slider plugin updated to the latest version 5.2.2
– fix: Theme Panel fixed the structure for categories that have multiple branches(subcategories with their own subcategories)
– fix: Visual Composer 4.10 – Video Player resize problem for aspect ratio 4:3 and 2.35:1
– fix: removed some old Visual Composer detection code from td_wp_booster_functions.php, it was causing an error in certain cases
– fix: improved the Visual Composer detection code inside the default page template file, it was triggered when the shortcodes didn’t have unique names(ex. Woocommerce shortcodes)
– improvement: Authors box widget/block – added user roles option, now you can set it to display only the desired role(s) – https://codex.wordpress.org/Roles_and_Capabilities
– other: to keep the theme size under 8MB we removed the Revolution Slider install from the Newspaper->Plugins section. You have to install it manually – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-install-revolution-slider-v5/
– other: removed unused code from “page-pagebuilder-title.php” template file

Yeah I’ve got that. What I don’t have is from 6.5.1 to 6.7… That’s what I need most. Hopefully tagDiv support can send it over to me.

Hi Charles,
I have sent you an email to your gmail address with the patches between the 2 versions. If the email address you provided on the registration to this forum is not active anymore, please send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and make a request to these files so I can provide them.
Thank you

Hi, sorry I missed what you meant on the interim changes 🙂

This is why it’s often good to download each new version and save it in your developer archive, so you have intermediate versions for reference, even if you don’t actually install each version.

That’s what I do anyway, out of paranoia. 🙂

A “historical” changelog page would be useful, I think.

Bogdan B.

Can you also send me the patches between the 2 versions. Looking to go from v6.5.1 to v6.7.1

Thanks in advance.

Hi,
Updating using this method is basically useless. Lots of files were changed between these version and you have a lot to replace using all of the previous patches. The most “important” files have already been changed between these versions so you are better off updating the standard way and simply applying the customization again. It will be less work this way. Most of your customization will have to be re-added anyway even if you use the patches. If however you still want to try the patches, please request them via email and we will provide theme there (contact@tagdiv.com)
Thank you!

Agreed. We just completed this upgrade path. What we did however to make future updates easier is install subversion control and document what we changed… so here’s hoping that tagDiv will provide more details when they make upgrades so people who have deeper customization can apply updates a bit easier.

Hi,
We do try to provide the patch for every version we release so it’s pretty straight forward, but if you skip 10 updates, then it can get pretty frustrating to use these patches.
Thank you!
