Is there a way to dedicate a position in a grid to a specific category?

I want to use a grid to show off posts that members of our garden club have created. They each have their own “topic”. e.g., “Square Foot Gardening”, “Plants”, “Fruits”, “Vegetables”, and some specific “words of wisdom”.

A grid with 5 or 6 images would be perfect to present the different areas. To this date, I’ve only been able to find that I can assign a category to the whole grid, or do ‘random’. I would like to assign the latest in “Square Foot Gardening” to one image in the grid. The next image would get the latest post on “Fruits”. Etc.

Many tutorials, both from tagdiv and external, and no one has shown how to do this. A search of all the settings has also come up empty.

Thank you for any guidance you can give.

Hello !

You can set a row layout 4 wide as you can see here: https://www.screencast.com/t/C54dfQD3e You can insert your images in it.

Thank you !

Sorry. I must not have described my need correctly. Your reply suggests having pictures in each position, such as a picture-gallery.

Most of the grids in your system accept a single post-category and then put posts from that category into each of the spots on the grid. Even when set to “random”, your programming still decides which post goes in which spot.

I want to specifyy which post-category goes into a specific location on the grid. The grid may/will have a different post-category for each location within the grid. In this way, the latest post from each category will populate the different locations of the grid.

Hello !

That can be done by adding flex blocks in each one and you can filter the id to be fixed as you can see here: https://www.screencast.com/t/C4fIAAHT ; BY inserting 1 id you will see only that post there.

Thank you !

Thank you. I will bring myself up to speed on these “flex blocks” and give it a try.
